It's the game The New York Times called a "Sensation," and Cosmopolitan said "will be the best dollar you've spent." Heads Up! is the fun and hilarious game from Ellen DeGeneres that she plays on her show, and you can play with your students in class.

This is how it works: One person is the denner. The denner launches the game on their phone and places the phone on their forehead horizontally (landscape), with the screen facing out, making sure that everyone on the call can clearly see the phone screen. The game will display a word or phrase. The other players must try and convey to the denner what is on the phone, without saying the actual word or phrase. When the denner guesses a word correctly, they flip the phone downward. If the word is too hard to guess, and the denner wishes to skip to the next word, they flip the phone upward. The game lasts for 60 seconds. The denner must try and guess the maximum number of words within the time frame.

  • Use a tablet or smartphone – your students can use their own devices

  • Download the Charades! App (google Play Store or iOS Apple store)

  • Prepare your own deck for your students – preferably with business related vocabulary

  • Alternatively: let your students prepare their own set

  • Watch the video with your students

  • Explain how this game works

  • Play in classroom
